Today's Cards - A gift for a friend

I made these cards today for a friend's birthday gift. I used paper that I already had (not Stampin' Up), ribbon and floss and metal word pieces from the dollar store. The stamps are all from Stampin' Up. It was fun to use the supplies and get a feel for making cards. I decorated the hand made envelopes that match. I created a template for the envelopes from an envelope I had received with a card last year. The box I'm giving them in is from the dollar store as well! Gotta love the Dollar Stores!!!!! I have another friend's birthday this Saturday and will be making another set of cards tomorrow.

Other great news....I'm having my first workshop next Tuesday and I've had 4 people call to say they are coming!! I hope to have more but I'm so excited to have 4!! LOL Now to get prepared! I'm a bit nervous but I know after I've done a couple, I'll be fine.

Starter Kit Received

This post is a bit behind but I've been busy!!! :) I received my starter kit last Monday, watched the DVDs, organized and played! I've been a bit pre-occupied with a new digital scrapping product website my friend Wendy and I have started so I haven't done alot of experimenting with SU product yet. Yesterday though I sat down and did a few things. The first framed piece uses the Natural Beauty set and the Beyond the Basics Backgrounds.
This framed piece uses a retired set that I got off Ebay called Heavenly Days 2001 and the Beyond the Basics Backgrounds set.
I made two post it note frames but bought the wrong post it notes! LOL These notes cascade like an accordian so they don't stay on the frame well! Oh well, I guess I'll have to go buy some more. This first one is just bordered with the Garden Annuals small wheel and the second one is done again with Natural Beauty set and the Beyond the Basics Backgrounds.
Now to make some more cards :)

Wendy and I had a great day together last Thursday as we played with paper, stamps and ink in her wonderfully stocked craft room! Wendy got her Christmas cards done and I got a few things done and started. Below you can see what I accomplished......some Christmas cards, tags and a desktop calendar.

The bottom left tags have little christmas lights punched out of textured cardstock and I strung them on some curled wire. Above the lights I stamped "jingle jingle" and below the lights are stars embossed in gold. Then I matted them to secure the wire in between. The other tags are stamped in blue snowflakes and then I punched out orange snowflakes attached with a brad and inked the edges of the tags in orange. The cards are just some prints that I cut out and attached to cardstock, a few stamps here and there and a stamped verse on the inside. I like 'em!

This photo is not very clear but the best I could do.....must have been bad lighting :)
I bought a glass frame at the dollar store, placed a patterned paper in it with a couple of stamped lines, printed out the little calendars on cardstock, attached each to a piece of brown cardstock that I punched tiny holes in, then attached them together with some hemp cord and sticky taped the December calendar to the glass. The right side of the patterned paper has a photo corner that you can put a photo in or whatever you'd like. I stamped a pretty flower and double matted it for an example.
Well, I had a great time playing with all this stuff and can't wait to do more!

Waiting Patiently

Wow, this is so hard waiting for my stamping supplies. I have paper at home that I could be playing with but without stamps and ink, I'm stuck!! Oh well, soon enough I'll be wondering how I'm going to accomplish all I want to do!! :) I've purchased a couple of Stampin' Up sets on ebay over the last couple of days....all retired stamps but nice ones.
My neighbour took my catalog home last night and I know she'll love everything! I showed my other neighbour the catalog last week. She scrapbooks so I hope I can get her interested in a few items. I've found so many wonderful and creative ideas online and can't wait to get started and share with others!

My First Cards :)

Well, I went to my first card class yesterday and this is the result:
I had fun and signed up to be a Stampin' Up Demo. It's going to be hard to wait for the starter kit to come! I hope to do a class or workshop before Christmas and then really "dig" in come January. I've been accumulating card and project ideas so I have more than enough to keep me busy once I get my stuff! :)

Switched to Beta Blogger

I made the switch to Beta this morning and after a bit of fumbling around, I think I've figured out how to use it, well to a certain degree. I have all my elements in place so that's all that matters for now.
2 more days until I get to stamp!!! yipppeeee LOL

Anticipating a New Creative Venture

I can't wait until Saturday! It's my first time attending a Stampin' Up class making cards. I am hoping to sign up with Stampin Up next week but I wanted to try it out first. This is a craft that I've never gotten into. I once tried heat embossing at a friend's house years ago but I never had success because I didn't have the right tools. I even bought a couple of stamps, an embossing pad and some embossing powder but it just never worked. Well I kept the embossing pad but can't find the powders so I must have deleted them from my "stash" awhile back. Oh well, I'm planning to try again!! I've been looking at sites on the internet where there are so many ideas and I joined a Stampin' Up yahoo group to wet my "appetite".
It's really all Wendy's fault cause she showed me the Stampin' Up catalogue from last year and I was sooooo intrigued! We talked our way into an excited state where we were both going to start selling! LOL Then we both took a step back to consider it and Wendy's decided not to for now but I'm thinking I just might try it. I'll try posting some pics of the cards I make this weekend and let you know what's up with this new journey of mine. :)
